From Maternity to Milestones: Celebrating a Half Birthday in Bloom

Some sessions feel like watching a story unfold in front of my lens. This family began as a couple of two, and I was honored to photograph their maternity session when they were expecting their first child. Not long after, we met again to capture them as a family of three.

This latest session marked a new chapter, their daughter’s half birthday. We chose a stunning California open space for the setting, with the sun glittering over the mountain and casting a golden glow. The theme was floral, and I wanted to create something truly special for her first photo session.

I built a lace tent surrounded by blooms, creating a soft and whimsical spot just for her. She sat among the flowers, curious and content, while her parents watched with the kind of joy that makes my job so rewarding.

It was more than just a milestone shoot. It was a chance to celebrate how far they have come in such a short time and to preserve these fleeting early months. Sessions like this remind me why I love following families through their journeys. Each chapter adds another layer to the story we are creating together.
